EAST ORANGE, NJ, February 13, 2018: The City of East Orange is proud to offer Kemetic Yoga™, an ancient Egyptian system of yoga enlightenment based upon the practices of physical movements combined with controlled deep breathing and meditation.
The classes, taught by Certified Yoga Instructor Jillian Faulks-Majuta, will be held every Monday between 1pm-2:15pm, starting on Feb. 26th, at the East Orange Senior Center, 90 Halsted Street, East Orange, NJ. The cost is $10 per session. All East Orange seniors and disabled persons are welcome. Drop-ins are accepted.
Mayor Ted R. Green says he is excited to diversify the offerings of the Senior Center, and the new Kemetic Yoga™ class is right in sync with his vision of progress in the city.
“My goal is to strike a balance between the traditional and the progressive,” said Mayor Green. “As a martial arts instructor, I know how important yoga is to the mind, spirit and body. One of the greatest benefits of yoga is that it is low impact and can be practiced daily at any age and at varying degrees of flexibility. The deepened mental and spiritual connection that comes from practicing yoga can’t be beat.”
Kemetic Yoga™ helps to create alignment of the spinal column and corrects defects in the skeletal muscular system in order to relieve stress, increase blood circulation, nutrient and oxygen supply to vital body systems, and to allow internal life force energy and cerebral spinal fluid to flow more efficiently and abundantly throughout the entire body.
Faulks-Majuta encourages newcomers to let go of pre-conceived physical expectations of yoga and to focus on how it makes them feel.
"I am committed to providing wellness and healing experiences for the individual, families and community," said Faulks-Majuta, founder of Majuta Wellness, who holds a global certification in yoga.
Faulks-Majuta said the class will include:
