EAST ORANGE, NJ, March 14, 2018: The Department of Public Safety is hosting Free Active Shooter Training on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 10am-2pm at the East Orange Public Library, 21 S. Arlington Avenue, East Orange, NJ 07018.
This 4-hour course will help individuals in a variety of workplace environments develop the best plan for survival during an active shooter incident. Protocols advocated by the Department of Homeland Security will be included in the instruction, along with examples on how to minimize the risk of personal injury and quickly resolve the incident.
The city is also planning to partner with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange School District to run a series of active shooter drills to prepare students, teachers and staff for the widest variety of scenarios.
“When decisions must be made in split seconds, every bit of training helps to save lives,” said Mayor Ted R. Green.
