[ARCHIVED] CITY OF EAST ORANGE ISSUES HEAT ADVISORY FOR MON, JUNE 18th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Orange, NJ, June 18, 2018: Mayor Ted R. Green, the East Orange City Council and the Office of Emergency Management have issued a Heat Advisory for Mon, June 18, 2018. According to the National Weather Service, the heat index value is expected to reach almost 100 degrees during the mid to late afternoon.

**PLEASE NOTE** Extreme heat can cause illness and death among those who cannot stay cool. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. In cases of heat stroke, please call 9-1-1.

The following cooling centers are available:

The East Orange Public Library, 21 South Arlington Avenue 

Hours: Mon-Thurs 9AM-9PM

            Fri 10AM-6PM

            Sat 9AM-5PM

The East Orange Senior Center, 90 Halsted Street 

Hours: Mon-Thurs 9AM-4:30 PM

East Orange Fire Department (Various Locations) 

Hours: Sun-Sat 12PM-9PM
