EOFD to host special recruitment effort at various locations throughout the city
East Orange, NJ, August 6, 2018: Mayor Ted R. Green, the East Orange City Council and the Department of Public Safety invite all residents to turn on their porch lights and join their neighbors for the 35th Anniversary of National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 between 5pm-9pm.
America’s “Night Out Against Crime” happens once a year every first Tuesday in August throughout the country as an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our city safer. Coordinated under the leadership of The Department of Public Safety, NNO will include a caravan of public safety personnel who will be joined by various community partners in making visits to neighborhoods throughout the city.
In addition to block parties and other organized gatherings, the city is hosting several special events of its own:
Farmers Market at City Hall Plaza between 5-8pm

Throughout the evening, the East Orange Fire Division will also be recruiting for the upcoming fire exam (Application deadline is August 31). Firefighters will be on site to share information and answer questions at the following locations:
