FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Orange, May 6, 2019: East Orange is proud to join communities across the United States in celebrating National Small Business Week, May 5-11, 2019.

According to the United States Small Business Administration, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

“Small and family-owned businesses are the engine of our local economy and we are extremely proud to support successful small businesses during National Small Business Week,” said Mayor Ted R. Green. “Under my administration, more than a dozen new small businesses have opened, many of which are owned by East Orange natives or long-time residents. Under the Department of Policy, Planning and Development, we also hosted a Free Micro-Business Workshop to help entrepreneurs implement new strategies and ideas to boost their business.”

FREE, TWO-DAY VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

As part of the week, the SBA will be co-hosting a free, two-day virtual conference featuring educational workshops and networking from May 7-8. The conference will address a wide range of business-centric topics, including marketing, financing, and customer relationship management. Business owners and supporters can register to view this live presentation at https://www.sba.gov/national-small-business-week/virtual-conference
