For Immediate Release
Amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic and Governor Phil Murphy’s “Stay at Home” Executive Order mandating the closure of non-essential operations on March 17, 2020, Mayor Ted R. Green, the East Orange Council and The East Orange Board of Water Commissioners (EOBWC) have been working to provide consistent, reliable, high-quality water and sewerage services that meet the needs of our customers and constituents while providing maximum safety for our employees.
As a result, the East Orange Water Department will be temporarily closed to the public and the following actions have been implemented to ensure the health and safety of both our customers and employees:
- Until further notice, all payment terms will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All requests for deferred payment plans must be in writing. In addition, billing and/or water usage disputes must be promptly reported in writing. All requests and reports must be submitted to water@eastorange-nj.gov for consideration. Please include property address, account number and specific details of your issue. We will contact you within three (3) days after receiving the email.
- Scheduled visits to private properties will be rescheduled for a later date to reduce the risk of coronavirus exposure.
- No payments will be accepted in person. The EOBWC would like to remind customers that online and telephone phone payment options are available by calling 973.266.8869 or paying online at www.eowater.com.
If you have a water or sewer emergency, please call 973.266.8869 and follow the prompts to be directed to an on call operator.
We sincerely appreciate your patience during this time.
