East Orange, NJ, April 30, 2020: U.S. Senator Cory A. Booker is the latest panelist to join Mayor Ted R. Green as a special guest for the Mayor’s Weekly Virtual COVID-19 Update to be held on Thursday, April 30 at 6pm.
Senator Booker has been extremely vocal during the pandemic, advocating for New Jerseyans and Americans alike. With the various issues Americans must now face, Senator Booker has been a rallying voice for stimulus payments to give relief to average working families and for better oversight at ICE detention centers and federal corrections facilities to keep those populations safe.
In March, as an economic downturn swept the nation, Senator Booker was one of the first proponents to support sending cash directly to Americans. And while many have received an initial stimulus check, Senator Booker continues to press forward with a plan that could put an additional $2,000 a month into American households for the remainder of the pandemic.
“We know that Senator Booker works tirelessly for the State of New Jersey especially when we need him most and we thank him for taking time to join our conversation this week and speak to our constituents,” said Mayor Green.
Mayor Green began his weekly Virtual Town Hall Teleconferences on Thursday, March 19, 2020 and special guests have included Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, Congressman Donald Payne, Jr., and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, all of whom have made appearances remotely.
