[ARCHIVED] EOPD Encourages Residents to Register for New Interactive Community Network to Report, Reduce Crimes

East Orange, NJ – The East Orange Police Division (EOPD) has launched a new Interactive Community Alert Network (iCAN) which allows residents and community stakeholders to report suspicious activity and send in tips about problematic areas, anonymously and in real time.

The new web-based program gives residents the resources to:

  1. Interact with officers on duty
  2. Report suspicious activity via text message or email
  3. Provide pictures or video to officers

EOPD is optimistic that the iCAN system will empower residents to assist in overall efforts to reduce crime, as well as fortify new and improved community relationships between officers and citizens.

“Our officers have done a phenomenal job of building relationships with our residents and this new initiative will take our public safety efforts to another level of community collaboration,” said Mayor Ted Green.

East Orange residents interested in participating in the program can register online at tinyurl.com/eastorangeican. For more information, contact EOPD at 973.266.5000.
