East Orange, December 7, 2020, East Orange, NJ: East Orange will kick off the Holiday Season with its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 5pm followed by a Toy Giveaway on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 3:30pm.

To comply with COVID-19 safety precautions, this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held virtually and streamed live on the City of East Orange’s Facebook and YouTube pages@EastOrangeCityHall. The ceremony will feature Santa and a few special guests to count down the display of thousands of sparkling lights that will illuminate the nearly 30-foot tree in front of City Hall Plaza.

The Toy Giveaway is open to all East Orange children, who must be present to receive a gift. Social distancing guidelines will be strictly enforced and masks must be worn by all.

The Tree Lighting and Toy Giveaway are time-honored and highly-anticipated community traditions that we are proud to continue as we ring in the season,” said Mayor Ted R. Green. “Spreading holiday spirit and joy with our families is what this time of year is all about.”

Residents are encouraged to drive past City Hall Plaza after dark to see the lights following the December 8th ceremony.
