February 14, 2017, East Orange, NJ  - The East Orange Department of Policy Planning & Development, Office of Community Development released their 2017-2018 Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) on February 1, 2017. Interested applicants should immediately contact the Community Development Office at 973-266-5140 to get a copy of the RFQ.

In addition, there will be a CDBG Technical Training Workshop on Wed, Feb 15 and Wed,  Feb 22, both at 10:30am in City Council Chambers. The workshop will cover all the eligible grant activities, funding priorities and answer any questions perspective applicants may have.

The Request for Qualification (RFQ) is the first, and major step in qualifying for CDBG funding during the upcoming program year. Interested applicants must be prepared to discuss their proposals and projects, how they assist low-income residents, create jobs or eliminate slum and blight. After this rigorous look at the projects, successful applicants will be invited to submit full applications.

Generally, CDBG funding for the City of East Orange is approximately 1.2 million dollars. These funds cover public services, like nonprofit projects, shelters, feeding programs, youth, senior, homeless, disabled and a myriad of other essential services for the residents of our town. Other eligible areas of interest include affordable housing, homelessness, economic development and public facilities.
