East Orange, November 17, 2021: To celebrate Thanksgiving 2021, Mayor Ted R. Green and the East Orange City Council are hosting two turkey giveaways for the residents of East Orange and a Thanksgiving Lunch with the Mayor and Council for seniors.
“This holiday season, we are grateful for our ability to continue to be a blessing to the families within our community, and I want thank all of our sponsors who helped us make these events possible,” said Mayor Green. “As we embark on another year of uncertainty and COVID restrictions, I hope the families in our community have an opportunity to safely reconnect and recharge with their loved ones.”
The first giveaway will take place Friday, November 19 at Imani Baptist Church of Christ located at 113 Elmwood Avenue. It will be hosted by Third Ward Councilmembers Bergson Leneus and Vernon Pullins Jr. in partnership with Circles for Healing Nonprofit Organization, Proud Living Communities, and the Third Ward County Committee. This event will begin at promptly 4pm.
On Saturday, November 20, Mayor Green and the East Orange City Council, in conjunction with The Ted R. Green Foundation, will host “A Day of Giving” at Calvary Baptist Church located at 66 South Grove Street starting at 11am. Residents should enter on Sussex Avenue and South Grove Street.
On Monday, November 22, the Division of Senior Services will host a Thanksgiving Lunch with the Mayor and Council at the East Orange Senior Center, 90 Halsted Street at 12noon. Free transportation will be provided upon request by calling 973.266.8832.
Both turkey giveaway events are for all East Orange residents and turkeys will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. The luncheon is restricted to East Orange seniors only with proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Masks are required and social distancing practices will be enforced.
