Women, Infants and Children’s Nutrition Program (WIC) : - Monday –Friday 8:30am -4:30 pm. Evening hours are available Mondays and Wednesdays. Checks/vouchers for nutritious foods and infant formula, breastfeeding and nutritional counseling
are provided to enrollees of the program. The Nutritionists conduct individualized counseling with program parents.
Every month a specific topic concerning nutrition is taught to parents concerning the healthy development of the child and family receiving nutritional supplementation by the staff dietician. The nutrition theme for this month is “Eat Right”. Families will observe models and samples of appropriate portion sizes in the various food groups.

Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP): Providing children with nutritious meals who attend daycares, preschools and after-school programs throughout East Orange, Orange, West Orange, South Orange, Maplewood, Irvington, Newark, Bloomfield, Belleville, Montclair ).
The meal menus are approved by the State of New Jersey Department of Agriculture. To become a program participant please call. Mandatory training sessions are conducted by this division, for Site Directors, Food Program Monitors, Site Supervisors, Food Handlers and staff.

Environmental: Monday – Friday 8:30
am to 4:30 pm. This division conducts health
inspections and enforces mandated health
codes, tobacco and nuisance investigations,
as well as citation of relevant violations.
They are also responsible for monitoring
animal control regulations and violations,
rodent control projects and seasonal
activities which include pool inspections
(June to September), rabies clinics (June
and September ).

Promotion of community “breast and prostate health“ continues with community outreach and screenings ” that are conducted in collaboration with the S.A.V. E. Program of University of Medicine and Dentistry Hospital of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
Mammograms are performed by appointment, at no cost to the participant. The next Mammogram screening date is April 7, 2011, 2011 Call for an appointment.
Free prostate cancer screening for men is available. Call for the next prostate clinic date, qualifying information or an appointment.
Diabetes and blood pressure screenings are available, call for an appointment or walk-in.

Monday –Friday; 8:30 am- 4:30 pm. Clinical dental services are available to children of East Orange residents' kindergarten to eighteen years of age.
Outreach, education and screenings of school-aged children are conducted in city schools.

Nursing case management and environmental inspections for children/families affected by lead poisoning. Children aged 1-6 years, may be screened for lead poisoning, at no cost, every Tuesday in January, in the Child Health Conference Clinic located in the basement. Education / Outreach sessions available upon request.
Home inspections and related consultations are performed according to local and state protocols.
