Councilman Casim L. Gomez was sworn into Office on January 1, 2016 to represent the Fourth Ward. He was re-elected at the General Election on November 5, 2019. He has been involved in youth activities in the City of East Orange for many years. Councilman Gomez attended Seton Hall University and subsequently received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bloomfield College.
Councilman Casim L. Gomez currently works for the County of Essex as a Supervisor of Accounts. He served as a Trustee to the East Orange Public Library Board of Trustees. After a career working for various financial institutions, Councilman Gomez decided to focus on civic engagement and service. He believes progress comes from engagement, communication and teamwork.
Councilman Casim L. Gomez has chaired the Business, Development and Zoning and the Planning and Grants Committees and has served as a member of the Public Safety, Arts, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and the Public Works Committees. He has also represented the City Council on the Planning Board.
