Greater Newark LISC Housing and Development Training Institute

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is rolling out a housing development training program  on August 24th for non-profits, CDCs and for profit housing developers (particular emphasis on developers of color) working in the Greater Newark market.

The training is modeled on the highly successful training that LISC has delivered in California since 1998.  Over 400 people representing 100 community development organizations throughout California have graduated from the program and gone on to create nearly 30,000 homes for people with local incomes.

The goals of this training are:

·       Increase the development capacity of affordable housing developers by providing practical, comprehensive, and intensive skill training in affordable housing development and community development strategies and techniques.

·       Increase the supply of affordable housing through the program's emphasis on production as part of the learning process.

·       Foster a network of project management professionals who serve as a resource to each other, share information and provide peer support throughout their careers.

Attached are more details on the training  including a presentation made at a July 13th informational Webinar, a recording of which can be found here.

LISC is currently accepting registrations right now . Applications are due next Friday. Note that we are not limiting attendance to one person per organization. There is no cost to participate. Please share with those in the city who you believe will benefit  from the training. In addition, please share with those for profit and non-profit organizations that you also believe would benefit from the training.
