2024 Chairperson of the Public Works Committee
Councilman Casim L. Gomez has served the Fourth Ward since 2016. Born and raised in Bronx, New York, Councilman Gomez is a proud longtime resident of the Fourth Ward. He has chaired the Business, Development & Zoning, Public Works, and the Planning and Grants Committees, and has served as a member of the Public Safety, Arts, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and the Finance Committees. He has also represented the City Council on the Planning Board.
Councilman Gomez has a degree in Psychology and has taken post graduate courses focused on Leadership at Farleigh Dickinson University Madison.
As Councilman his goal is “To help bridge the wonderful achievement of our city to the phenomenal future we all envision” and “To continue to work with my colleagues and the Green Administration to deliver exceptional government and transformational community services.”
Councilman Gomez served as a member of the East Orange Public Library Board of Trustees. After a career working for various financial institutions, Councilman Gomez decided to focus on civic engagement and service. He currently works for the County of Essex as a Supervisor of Accounts. He believes progress comes from engagement, communication, and teamwork.
